About LivU

A free way to video chat with real people, anywhere in the world

LivU is a live video chat platform that connects you with someone new in a single click. Sign up free with your Gmail, Apple ID, phone number, or email address, hit Start Video Call, and the next person on your screen could be in Istanbul, or São Paulo, or two streets from your apartment.

We launched in 2018 and crossed our first million users within three months. Today around 50 million people have signed up across 190+ countries. Roughly 4 million new users join each year, and at any given moment about 500,000 people are online and ready to chat.

LivU runs two ways. The web version at livuweb.com opens straight in your browser with nothing to install. The Android app on Google Play gives you the same thing on mobile. One account works for both.

Why we built LivU this way

When we started in 2018, the random video chat space had a reputation problem. Bots everywhere. Profiles that turned out to be stock photos. Two strangers in a video call who didn't share a single language. We weren't trying to reinvent the category. We just wanted to build the version of it that actually worked.

01

Real, verified users

Every account is verified before it can match with anyone. When you press the Start Video Call button, you're connected to a real person with a real face and a real account. The community spans 190+ countries, and everyone in it is here because they want to be.

02

Free, instant, private

Signing up is free. So is random video chat. So is messaging the friends you match with. Premium features exist for users who want them, but you don't have to pay to unlock them: daily check-in tasks on the website let you earn free coins, and we also run occasional Free Coin Events throughout the year. If anything inappropriate appears on camera, auto-blur kicks in immediately to protect you.

03

No download required

You don't have to install anything to use LivU. The web version at livuweb.com runs in any browser on desktop, tablet, or phone, and starts the moment you click the button. If you prefer a native app, the Android version is available on Google Play. Either one works.

04

Safety: AI-assisted and human-reviewed

Moderation runs in two layers. AI scans content in real time during conversations and flags issues automatically. A 24/7 human review team handles every flag and investigates user reports. You can block or report anyone with one tap, and we actually follow up.

05

Real-time translation in 28 languages

Translation is built into the chat itself, so you don't need a specific app open while you talk. Whatever you type gets delivered to the other person in their language and vice versa. We currently cover 28: Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Sinhala, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, and Vietnamese.
